Man Accused of Intentionally Driving off California Cliff With 2 Children And Another Adult!
The California Highway Patrol announced Tuesday that the driver of the automobile that crashed off a cliff in Northern California, critically injuring two children and a second adult after the 250-foot drop, had been detained on suspicion of attempted murder and child abuse.
Following his discharge from the hospital, Dharmesh A. Patel of Pasadena will be registered at the San Mateo County Jail, according to a statement from the highway patrol. It wasn’t immediately clear if Patel has legal representation.
The highway patrol statement stated, “CHP detectives worked throughout the night interviewing witnesses and obtaining evidence from the scene.” Investigators “established probable cause to suspect this occurrence was an intentional conduct based on the facts gathered”
According to court documents quoted by CBS News, Patel, 42, was in the car with a 41-year-old lady, a 7-year-old girl, and a 4-year-old son. In a statement issued by the hospital on Tuesday, Patel, a radiology specialist at Providence Holy Cross Medical Center in Los Angeles’ Mission Hills neighborhood, said family members were in the car.

Authorities hailed the four passengers’ survival as a miracle after the car plunged down a notorious cliffside along the Pacific Coast Highway close to a notoriously dangerous crash site dubbed Devil’s Slide.
The Tesla automobile slammed into a rocky ledge after falling more than 250 feet off the road. According to Brian Pottenger, a battalion chief for Coastside Fire Protection District/Cal Fire, it appears to have flipped a few times before coming to rest on its wheels a few feet from the waves, trapped against the cliff.
Accidents at Devil’s Slide, a 15-mile stretch of the coast between Pacifica and Montara that is steep, rocky, and winding, rarely result in survivors. All four victims were conscious and alert when rescuers arrived on Monday, even though they were previously described as being in critical condition.
“We frequently go there looking for cars that have fallen down a cliff and perished. This was indeed a miracle, “Monday, Pottenger said.
According to authorities, there was no guardrail nearby where the vehicle plunged down a cliff.
Around 10:15 a.m. on Monday, witnesses dialed 911, and workers rigged up a rope system from the roadway to lower firefighters down the cliff, according to the battalion chief. Other firefighters using binoculars to observe the sedan at the same time suddenly attended movement, indicating that at least one person was still alive.
After what had probably been a body retrieval effort, the incident became a rescue operation that took several hours while hampered by persistent rain, strong gusts, poor roads, and pounding waves. Firefighters had to use the so-called “jaws of life” gear to cut the victims out of the automobile since the doors were smashed against the cliff and wedged shut.
Crews used a rope system to manually haul the children up the cliff after removing them from the back window in a rescue basket. They had musculoskeletal injuries and were taken by ambulance right away to the hospital.
However, the adults had to be lifted by a helicopter up the cliff due to their severe wounds. The battalion chief claimed that they were both flown to the hospital after that.
Investigators reported that in 2018, a lady purposely drove an SUV carrying her wife and their six adopted children off another cliff in Northern California. All of them died. A few days had passed since Washington state authorities launched an investigation into claims that Jennifer Hart‘s children were being neglected before the crash in Mendocino County.
