Manuel Neuer Skiing Accident: Just a week after his team was eliminated from Qatar 2022, Germany’s captain and goalkeeper Manuel Neuer broke his leg in a skiing accident and will miss the rest of the season.
The 36-year-old claimed he had taken a vacation to unwind after Germany was eliminated from the competition in the group stages, but he later broke his right leg.
German player Manuel Neuer, who has made 117 appearances for his country, posted on Instagram next to a photo of himself in the hospital, “Hey guys, what can I say? The end of the year could have gone better.”
“While trying to clear my head while ski touring, I suffered a lower leg fracture. Yesterday’s surgery went well. Many thanks to the doctors.
“However, it hurts knowing the current season is over for me.”
Bayern Munich, where Neuer plays, revealed that its captain had already had surgery and will be out for the rest of the year.
“He has already undergone a successful operation. Wishing you all the best with your recovery, Manu,” the club tweeted.
In Germany’s disastrous World Cup campaign, Neuer took part in all three games and said on social media that “the anguish and sadness run deep” due to his team’s failure to advance to the knockout stages.
The Germans defeated Costa Rica 4-2 in the last group match, but it wasn’t enough because Costa Rica had already lost to Japan and was drawn with Spain.
The Bundesliga resumes play on January 20 after a holiday break, with Bayern Munich leading by four points.
Additionally, without its captain, the German powerhouse will play Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League round of 16. Do you want to learn more about celebrities? Visit our website, Newswatchlist.com, for the most recent news.
