In the impending Michael biopic, which Antoine Fuqua is directing, Jaafar Jackson will play his uncle Michael Jackson.
According to the studio, which told Variety, the movie will examine every facet of the pop icon’s life, “including his most memorable performances that drove him to become the greatest entertainer of all time.”
It’s unknown if the child sexual abuse allegations against the late musical legend — extensively detailed in 2019’s Leaving Neverland — will be addressed in Michael, given that the biopic has the agreement of the Michael Jackson estate.

In a previous statement announcing the film’s release, Michael’s mother, Katherine Jackson, said: “Ever since Michael was little, as a member of the Jackson 5, he loved the magic of cinema.” As a family, we are honored to have our life story come alive on the big screen.”
Jaafar, the second-youngest member of the Jackson 5 and brother of Michael Jackson, will be playing his first significant cinematic role.
Jaafar is my son personified. The singer’s mother, Katherine Jackson, said it was “great to see him carry on the Jackson history of singers and performers.”
Producer Graham King claimed that they did a global casting search before settling on Jaafar.
When I first met Jaafar more than two years ago, I was astounded by how he naturally personifies Michael’s energy and character, remarked King. “Even after a thorough investigation of the entire world, it was obvious that he is the only individual qualified to fill this post.
I’m overjoyed that he’s agreed to play his uncle, and I can’t wait for everyone to see him in Michael Jackson on the big screen.

According to a statement, the screenplay by John Logan will give “an in-depth portrayal of the complicated man who became the King of Pop.”
With “educated insight” into Jackson’s creative process, it’s anticipated to spotlight some of the singer’s most memorable performances. Screenplays by Logan have been used in the movies Genius, Skyfall, The Aviator, and Hugo.
