Mike Williams Death: How did he die?

Mike Williams Death

Former Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Buffalo Bills wide receiver Mike Williams, 36, reportedly died of injuries received in a construction accident on Tuesday morning.

He will be missed. He fought hard his whole life. Prayers to his family,” Engelhard said. Williams’s death was reported widely last week, but it was later established that he was actually still alive on September 6 and receiving life support in a hospital in the Tampa area.

It was earlier this month in Hillsborough County, Florida, that it was claimed that a steel beam had fallen on his head. According to WIVB of Buffalo, Williams suffered an infected cut from the hit and was subsequently placed in an induced coma at the hospital. After having his ventilator withdrawn on September 8, he was said to be alive and alert.

According to Tierney Lyle, father of his 8-year-old daughter, “He goes hard in everything he does,” as she put it on Thursday. To put it another way, “He doesn’t give up easily at all.” After Lyle reported that he was “mostly unresponsive” on a visit two days earlier, this happened. She said he woke up crying and unable to move when he heard her and their daughter, Mya, talking to him.

Before attending Syracuse University, Williams played high school football and basketball in Buffalo, New York. For three years he excelled as a wide receiver. He is a versatile athlete who played basketball for Syracuse for a short time in 2007.

However, as a junior, he had his best football season ever, with 837 receiving yards and 10 touchdowns. In 2009, he improved upon that performance with 746 receiving yards and six touchdowns. In 2010, he was drafted by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the fourth round of the NFL.

He made quite an impression right on, being named to the All-Rookie team after accumulating 65 receptions for 964 yards and 11 scores in his first season. The 2012 season was the closest he came to reaching the 1,000-yard mark in his four years with the Bucs.

After signing a five-year agreement with the Buccaneers in 2013, he was moved to the Bills in the summer of 2014.

The Buccaneers issued a statement Tuesday:

“We are saddened to hear of the untimely death of Mike Williams, which has left our organization, his former teammates and fans with heavy hearts,” the team said. “We send out deepest sympathies to his family and loved ones as they mourn this tragedy.”

In 2014, his final year as a professional football player, he suited up for his hometown team. He finished his career with 223 receptions, 3,089 receiving yards, and 26 touchdowns.
