Several sources told CBS News that President Biden will soon officially launch his reelection campaign, which may happen as soon as next week in a video release.
According to a source involved with the planning, the Biden team is trying to release the reelection announcement video on Tuesday, April 25. Still, President Biden has not formally approved the time, the source told CBS News.
This weekend, the president is traveling to Camp David with staff and family, and it is expected that this will be a big topic of debate there.
The most likely date is Tuesday because it is the anniversary of the day he declared his most recent presidential run, again by video, on April 25, 2019. However, a party official warned that the announcement’s timing and structure “could change.”
The operative said, underscoring the ambiguity of such a statement, “This has been a rolling piece of ice for a few days.”
According to a top Democratic source informed on the film a few hours ago, it is now in production. The insider claimed that the president has not yet approved the video.
The current version of the president’s campaign strategies, which have been hotly debated at the White House among his closest advisers and throughout the Democratic Party for several months, was first reported by The Washington Post.
Officials from the White House declined to confirm the story.

Next week, the president will also host essential campaign donors in Washington, beginning with an event on Friday and extending through Saturday.
According to several Democrats familiar with the arrangements, senior administration officials, including certain Cabinet secretaries, would brief donors.
No written invitation is being distributed to maintain the privacy of the gathering’s specifics, according to one of the Democrats who said they were invited over the phone.
The retreat falls on the weekend of the White House Correspondents’ Dinner, when a large number of essential party donors from the West Coast and New York are already slated to be in town for a number of activities, including the dinner itself.
Mr. Biden, currently 80 years old, would turn 82 at the start of his second term and 86 at its conclusion if he were to win the election. He has already won the presidency at the oldest age ever.
Self-help guru Marianne Williamson and anti-vaccine activist Robert F. Kennedy, the nephew of the late President John F. Kennedy, are two further Democratic candidates with a slim chance of winning.
Former President Trump, who is 76 years old, was the first to announce a 2024 White House run. Nikki Haley, a former South Carolina governor and U.S. ambassador to the UN, and Asa Hutchinson, a former governor of Arkansas, are also candidates.
Republican candidates from other states, including Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, former Vice President Mike Pence, and Senator Tim Scott, have not yet declared their intentions.
The president postponed announcing his candidacy for reelection to use formal addresses to promote his agenda and criticize Republicans against the backdrop of the presidential seal.
Even though Mr. Biden will be running on the strength of considerable legislative accomplishments, rising inflation continues to strain American budgets. A special counsel is looking into the discovery of secret records in his former private office and Wilmington home.
Next week’s announcement of reelection would coincide with Democrats and Republicans appearing to be at odds over how to raise the debt ceiling without putting the country at risk of a disastrous default.
Progressive Democrat from Silicon Valley Rep. Ro Khanna told CBS News in January that Mr. Biden might face the most incredible political danger from moderate Democrats in a 2024 presidential contest.
And Khanna thinks that fellow Biden supporters shouldn’t rule out the prospect of a challenge from Sen. Joe Manchin, a centrist Democrat from West Virginia, or someone similar. The California Democrat stated that he does not anticipate Mr. Biden to face a significant left-wing primary challenge.
