As of 2015, Riley Keough was happily married to Australian stunt performer Ben Smith-Petersen. The actress and Smith-Petersen met in 2012 on the set of Mad Max: Fury Road. Their parents were the late Lisa Marie Presley and musician Danny Keough. They met briefly on set, but it wasn’t until a year later, when they were in Australia for reshoots, that they started dating.

Keough and the Australian stuntman got engaged in 2014. Their relationship evolved swiftly. They got married in February of 2015, less than a year later. “My husband is such a good person,” Keough gushed in a 2022 article for Vogue Australia. He is steady, dependable, powerful, and emotionally attuned. My closest friend is him.

Smith-Petersen represented his wife during Presley’s funeral in January 2023. He announced the birth of a daughter to the world while reading Keough’s remarks. “I hope I can love my daughter the way you loved me, the way you loved my brother and sisters,” Smith-Petersen told her mother.

On several occasions, including the debut of Keough’s Amazon Prime Video series Daisy Jones & The Six on February 23, 2023, he accompanied Keough on the red carpet. Smith-Petersen donned a black suit to the occasion, and the actress chose a plunging satin black gown that matched.

Smith-Petersen and Keough went to the Vanity Fair Oscars afterparty in March 2023. The Zola star sparkled in a Celine by Hedi Slimane champagne-colored gown, while the stuntman looked dashing in black.

He and Keough fell in love in Australia

Keough wrote a piece for Vogue Australia in 2022 about her and Smith-Petersen’s budding romance. In 2013, while filming retakes in Australia, they reunited, and Keough had the “realisation that I thought Ben was cute.”

She wrote, “We had a couple of drinks and I remember we had a connection.” after inviting the stuntman to her friend’s house in Sydney. He began dancing the salsa with me and instructing me because it was a part of his upbringing. That evening was a blast. A small group of us swam in one of the bays, and it seemed like we were in a fairy tale.

To continue, Keough said, “We kissed that night, and the next day we went to Camp Cove and got in the water and I embraced him and it seemed like I didn’t want to be away from him. To put it simply, I was at ease.

According to an interview Keough gave to USA Today in 2016, the actress revealed that she fell head over heels for her then-boyfriend quite quickly. “Two weeks into dating him, we were at a gas station and I was like, ‘I could picture myself having kids with this guy.’ It seemed like I was finally meeting the man who would become my spouse. It was awesome.

He Married Keough in 2015

They made their engagement public in August of 2014. A photo of Keough wearing a diamond ring was posted to Facebook by Smith-Petersen, who wrote, “So that happened.” A few weeks before their American wedding, Keough and Smith-Petersen tied the knot in Nepal, where they were helping to construct a school.

In her column for Vogue Australia, Keough remembered that “the families knew we were getting married and they said, ‘Let us throw you a Hindu wedding. “It was stunning, and in some ways the ceremony had a more personal and meaningful feel. I sobbed during that wedding. Because of my nerves, I wasn’t really there for my larger wedding. But it was nonetheless incredible in its own right.

They tied the knot on February 4, 2015, in Napa Valley, California. On an episode of The Late Show with Stephen Colbert in February 2023, Keough revealed that she had always known she would marry Smith-Petersen. “I don’t see the future, but I know certain things are going to happen,” the Daisy Jones & The Six star said.

“Like when I met my husband, he came out of the gas station on our second date and I thought, ‘I’m going to marry him and have kids with him.’ ” She added: “I just knew. We didn’t even say ‘I love you’ yet.
