Even as a little boy, Rudolph was a regular church singer. Rudolph Isley, Ronald Isley, and O’Kelly Isley, Jr. created the Isley Brothers in 1954. Before his death, Vernon was also a part of the crew. Shout!, their first album, was released by RCA Victor in 1969.

Sales of “Shout” topped one million.

They had four singles that peaked in the top 10 on the US Billboard chart. Both the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame (1992) and the Hollywood Walk of Fame (“Rockwalk”) (1997) honored them. The Isley Brothers were honored with a spot in the Vocal Group Hall of Fame in 2003.

When Rudolph decided to enter the ministry in 1989, he quit music. In 1958, he tied the knot with Elaine Jasper. Rudolph passed away at the age of 84 on October 11, 2023.
