Steve Kaminski Obituary: (WOOD) GRAND RAPIDS, Michigan — Steve Kaminski, a longtime West Michigan sports journalist who covered high school and car racing for The Grand Rapids Press and MLive, has passed away.
According to MLive, Kaminski passed away on Monday; his family believes he suffered a heart attack or stroke. He was 56.
He had been covering high school athletics in West Michigan for a while; according to MLive, he was in charge of 53 schools. His love was for automobile racing, with a particular emphasis on the nearby events held at Berlin Raceway in Marne.
“The care and commitment that Steve had for the athletes and community he covered shone through every day in his work,” Bryn Mickle, MLive sports director, said in an obituary published Tuesday. “He was a true professional.”
