The Real Housewives of New Jersey star Teresa Giudice (born May 18, 1972) is a well-known television personality in the United States. Giudice not only appeared on the program but also contributed to several cookbooks that were New York Times bestsellers (2012).
After more than 20 years of marriage, Joe Giudice and TERESA Giudice filed for divorce. Teresa, currently married to her husband, Luis Ruelas, stated that she could not handle a long-distance relationship because of the years of legal drama the two through.
Due to fraud allegations, the two have served time in jail, and Joe has stayed in Italy after being deported.
When Did Teresa And Joe Giudice Divorce?
Although they hadn’t shared a residence since Joe entered prison in early 2016, the pair announced their split in December 2019. After years of legal hassle, the 1999 wedding couple called it quits. Their divorce was final in 2020.
What Was The Reason Behind Teresa And Joe’s Split?
Teresa revealed she and Joe had chosen to call it quits on their marriage while on a trip to Italy during the Real Housewives of New Jersey season 10 finale.
After Joe was released from ICE custody in October, the episode followed Teresa and her four daughters as they traveled to Sala Consilina, Italy, where Joe was born.
The two discussed openly how they would continue to be together in light of Joe’s deportation proceedings.
“You get on a plane, and we meet places, that’s all. And we have fun,” Joe told his wife.
“And that’s what we do. We make things work.”
“No, I don’t want that,” Teresa answered.
“I want somebody with me every single day.”
She continued by saying that she hadn’t been content since their legal drama started.
“The past five years have been dark. You’ve said a lot of hurtful things to me. You wish you never married me and all this stuff,” Teresa shared.
“It just makes me think about a lot of things. Like, you marry somebody, and they’re supposed to protect you.”
The two decided to call it quits.
Teresa told viewers that Joe’s lack of accountability was the most frustrating situation.
“It’s so infuriating to me. After four years of us both doing time, he still does not take responsibility for what he’s done,” Teresa shared.
“He hasn’t changed.”
Do They Have Any Children?
Their four daughters are Gia, 19, and Gabriella, 15. Milania, 14. And Audriana, 10.
Why Did Teresa And Joe Go To Jail?
Joe, 47, and Teresa both entered guilty pleas to numerous counts of bankruptcy fraud and conspiracy to commit mail and wire fraud in March 2014.
In addition to the other accusations, the father, of Italian descent, also entered a guilty plea to one count of failure to file a tax return.
Teresa, an RHONJ star, was given a 15-month prison term; she served 11 months in jail between 2014 and 2015.
Three months after his wife’s release from her Connecticut prison, Joe received a sentence of 41 months in jail, which he started serving at a New Jersey facility in 2016.
Due to his lack of citizenship, the former businessman was immediately turned to US Immigration and Customs Enforcement.
The television personality, born in Saronno, Italy, was expelled to his own country but has since struggled to return to be with his family.
His deportation appeal was rejected earlier this year by a federal judge. The Sun has exclusively confirmed.
