Since it’s Tiffany Haddish’s party, she can do whatever she wants. Apple TV Plus has renewed The Afterparty for a second season, and now the show has a release date.
Haddish will play Detective Danner again, but what about the rest of the cast of The Afterparty? The good news is that Sam Richardson and Zo Chao will be back.
As for new people, Ken Jeong and many others are joining the fun. Christopher Miller and Phil Lord are the show’s executive producers, and Miller created and directed it.
The first murder of Season 1 happens at an afterparty for a high school reunion. Each episode is told from the point of view of a different character and in a different style, such as a psychological thriller, a musical, or an animated story.
In Season 2, the leading case will be a murder at a wedding. The anthology part is like other murder mysteries like Knives Out 2 (in which Daniel Craig returns as Detective Benoit Blanc) and White Lotus season 2 (only Jennifer Coolidge returns from the original cast).
The After Party Season 2 Release Date is Confirmed!
Apple announced that The Afterparty season 2 would be out on Friday, April 28, 2023, when it released the first look of Aniq holding a doll.
The streaming service just renewed the show on March 2, so it may be a while before production on season 2 starts. Miller and Lord are a bustling producing team.
They are currently working on the sequel to Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, which will come out in December, as well as several other projects, such as a reboot of Clone High and Project Hail Mary with Ryan Gosling.
Even if someone else is in charge of The Afterparty season 2 and Miller gives up directing, writing the script and filming could take months. Our best guess is that season 2 won’t start until mid- to late-2023.

Tiffany Haddish is back as Detective Danner for the second season of Afterparty and is the show’s star.

Ike Barinholtz could come back as Brett, Ilana Glazer as Chelsea, Jamie Demetriou as Walt, John Early as Danner’s partner, Detective Culp, and Reid Scott could come back as Danner’s enemy Detective Germain. Ben Schwartz, who plays Yasper, is likely the least likely cast member who could still come back.

Elizabeth Perkins, Zach Woods, Paul Walter Hauser, Poppy Liu, Anna Konkle, Jack Whitehall, and Vivian Wu are the new people in Season 2.
Ken Jeong is also joining the cast of The Afterparty, but his role is still a secret. Apple announced the movie’s release date and gave a first look at it. They also said that John Cho would be joining the cast.
