How Is The Plot Of The Boys Season 4?
Although the season 4 plot of The Boys has not yet been revealed, the conclusion of season 3 provides a strong hint as to what will happen next.
The Boys are back together and more determined than ever to carry out their plan to topple the Supes. But it seems like Victoria Neuman is now their primary foe. She made a deal with Homelander and was nominated for vice president when The Deep drowned her rivals in the season finale. She may perhaps surpass all previous Superpowers, at least politically.
But this time, Starlight will help in some way. She attempted to change things from within, but she is now unquestionably on team Butcher and a vital crew member. He may need all the help he can get after being left to handle the effects of Temp V. Billy has been advised that the impact of the substance on his body will put him at serious risk in the upcoming season.
In an interview with Variety(opens in a new tab) about this twist, Kripke implied that they would go for Neuman when Butcher only has months to live. According to the author, they compete with the DeSantis ticket. “One of the thrills of approaching Season 4, which we are only now planning for this, is that he has a crazy ticking clock. He still has a lot of tasks to finish.
The showrunner also provided further context for Butcher’s journey, asking, “Is Butcher self-aware enough to realize that he is accountable for his poor luck? The intriguing aspect of our inquiry concerning him is that. Is he self-aware sufficient to think about whether he’s changeable? We have started some fascinating conversations for Season 4.
Next is Homelander. He’s still crazy, and nothing seems to be able to stop him. The Storm Chasers are still steadfastly on the side of the Super despite him lasering a bystander and airing his divisive, destructive ideals in a national TV address. Since being disclosed to the public along with his skills, Ryan, his son, has joined him.

Kripke hinted at the potential route of this plot in an interview with IGN(opens in new tab). “He will nurture Ryan to become a second Homelander, which will have terrible repercussions if given a chance.
If he stays in that setting, he might develop into another Homelander, “said Kripke. Therefore, I think it hints at one of the major conflicts in season four: Butcher and Homelander’s argument over Ryan.
Whether or not a new main antagonist will appear in season 4 is unknown. Thankfully, Soldier Boy was neutralized and is still alive. Consequently, we might witness him being taken off the ice once more when the series rolls around. However, we hope Kripke will have a new move for season 4, as we might run into someone.
How Many Cast Members Are In The Boys Season 4?
Over the previous three seasons, The Boys’ cast has dramatically grown, and nearly everyone will be back. We anticipate a few casting announcements in the upcoming months before the start of season 4 production. In the meanwhile, though, we’ve examined the season 3 finale’s survivors.
The Boys will be coming back. Jack Quaid will portray Hughie, Mother’s Milk by Laz Alonso, Frenchie by Tomer Capone, Kimiko by Karen Fukuhara, Starlight by Erin Moriarty, and Billy Butcher by Karl Urban.
The Seven are becoming less numerous, but Homelander has endured. As a result, Colby Minifie will reprise his role as Ashley, the inept CEO of Vought, along with Antony Starr, Chase Crawford’s The Deep, Jessie T Usher’s A-Train, and others. His son Ryan became a star of Homelander after season 3, and the cast list reflects that: Cameron Crovetti has been elevated to series regular.
Claudia Doumit should return since Victoria Neuman will soon be inaugurated as vice president of the United States. Two additional recurring characters who might make a comeback are Paul Reiser, who plays The Legend, and Katy Breieras, who portrays The Deep’s ex-wife Cassandra.
The Boys’ most recent cast addition is Jeffrey Dean Morgan. He will make an unidentified appearance on the show. The actor tweeted in response to the news: “I can’t even convey how delighted I am! I appreciate @therealKripke, @AMCPlus, and @TheBoysTV for balancing the two schedules. No easy task. I’VE Been Damn Happy!”
Two new Supers are also flying into the new season. Valorie Curry (Detroit: Become Human) and Susan Heyward (Powers) are joining the cast as Sister Sage and Firecracker, respectively. We got our first look at them in October 2022, which you can see here.
When the newcomers arrived, author Eric Kripke said: “These new Supes are some of the best and oddest Supes ever produced for The Boys. They’ll win your heart. And when I say “love,” I mean “terrified and slightly sick.” WE WELCOME YOU GUYS TO THE FAMILY.
It is unknown if Giancarlo Esposito will return to play the disgraced head of Vought, Stan Edgar. Since Neuman and Homelander evacuated him in a pincer movement, he hasn’t been seen. In season 4, everything is possible for him, either a cameo or a more significant role.
After Homelander brutally demolished Black Noir in the season 3 finale, we believed that Nathan Mitchell’s character had most likely been killed off. When discussing Noir’s fate, Kripke stated that the character was no longer alive but also mentioned that Vought might recast him.
Without giving anything away, he told Deadline(opens in new tab): “The guy who is Black Noir is no longer living. Even though his organs are all over the place, it’s not too challenging to recast them when your hero is muffled and wearing a mask.
To Entertainment Weekly, he explained the situation and promised Mitchell would return but in a new capacity. According to Kripke, he will assume the role of a different person while donning the Black Noir suit. There’s a good chance that Black Noir will make a triumphant comeback.
There is no longer a character in season 3 who wore [the Noir costume]. However, Nathan will play an intriguing and funny feeling in the forthcoming season which will don the outfit.
The futures of other characters are uncertain following the season 3 conclusion. After her character went into hiding with her girlfriend, Elena, Dominique McElligott, who played Maeve, quit the program. Mallory could eliminate his threat by getting Jensen Ackles’ character, Soldier Boy, back on the ice.
Kripke believes there’s a chance they’ll both return at some point. According to what he told Deadline(opens in new tab), Maeve will unquestionably return before the season is out. I’m hoping to see Soldier Boy again.
In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, he stated they were “100%” leaving the door open for Soldier Boy to return. The old TV adage goes, “Never murder somebody unless you have to,” Kripke said. Instead of closing the door, open a window. We’ll have to wait and see, but I don’t think the story could end without Soldier Boy making another appearance.
After appearing in season 3, Simon Pegg will return to the show as Hughie’s father. Rosemarie DeWitt from Black Mirror has joined the cast as Hughie’s mother. Other arrivals include Rob Benedict (Supernatural) and Elliot Knight in unspecified roles (Once Upon a Time).
What Is The Release Date For Season 4 Of The Boys?
There is no confirmed release date for The Boys season 4. The show was recently recommissioned in June 2022, and on July 8, 2022, the season 3 finale aired. Before we get to watch any new episodes, we might have to wait a bit.
We have done a significant study on prior seasons to try and predict when the show will return, even though we don’t have any concrete information.
A more extended break, which was prolonged by the coronavirus pandemic, occurred between the first and second seasons of the show, which were separated by a year and a month. If Season 4 follows the same pattern as the previous seasons, it might debut between July 2023 and March 2024.
New episodes will likely debut in mid or late 2023, given that The Boys is again in production. Typically, it takes a show 10 to 12 months after it begins production to appear on our televisions. This is currently just a hunch, of course. As soon as something official is announced, we’ll let you know.
One thing that appears likely is that we’ll see its spin-off program before season 4 of The Boys airs. Gen V’s cast was revealed in a special video uploaded to The Boys’ official social media account(opens in a new tab).
It is predicted to be available on Prime Video in 2023, despite no official release date. In the spin-off, college-aged Supes are tested in activities reminiscent of The Hunger Games at a Vought-run institution.
Kripke also suggested that there might be a connection to The Boy’s main series. There is definitely a crossover, and we’re working hard to establish a universe in which some of the issues and plotlines from Season 3 continue from the first, he continued in a statement to Deadline(opens in new tab).
For instance, there is a presidential campaign in the background during that season, and some of the school’s actions are in response to Season 3 of The Boys. While Soldier Boy and other familiar characters are present, some new storylines are emerging in that season of the spin-off that we must pick up and continue in Season 4 of the show.
