The Crown Season 5 Release Date: ‘The Crown,’ one of Netflix’s most popular shows, is returning after a two-year break. Many accolades have been bestowed upon this Peter Morgan production, including two Golden Globes for Best Dramatic Television Series and twenty-one Primetime Emmy Awards, seven of which were given to the show’s cast and crew.
The fourth season of the show earned the Emmy for Outstanding Drama Series, while the Golden Globes went to Emma Corrin, Josh O’Connor, and Gillian Anderson. As the show’s cast changes every two seasons, new actors will assume the reins of the character.
The next chapter of the series will focus on the royal family throughout the 1990s, a time that was tough for the monarchy, notably in 1992, which is known as the “year of the pig”. Here’s all we know so far about The Crown’s upcoming fifth season.

Filming
In July 2021, filming began for the fifth season. Because she was concerned about how the Princess’s final years would be shown in the show, Jemima Khan, a friend of Diana, stood down as a consultant and co-writer on episodes focusing on the Princess. COVID-19 led to quarantine for eight crew members in December, therefore filming was put on hold for the rest of the year.
