The Die Hard Cast: One of the best action movies ever produced is Die Hard. A Christmas Eve reunion between John McClane (Bruce Willis) and his estranged wife Holly (Bonnie Bedelia) is the subject of the movie directed by Predator mastermind John McTiernan. Oh, and there are also terrorist attacks.
These purported freedom warriors, led by the endearing yet terrifying Hans Gruber (Alan Rickman), are more than they first appear. It soon becomes evident that they have a stake in whatever is kept in the Nakatomi Plaza vault. Since John is a police officer in New York City, he quickly turns the tables on the nefarious intruders.
Nevertheless, 33 years have passed since the movie’s release, so you might wonder where the Die Hard cast is today. Then stop wondering! We looked into the casting crew’s movements. Bruce Willis – John McClane
John McClane, the star of Die Hard, was not made the same way as other 1980s action heroes. Bruce Willis made John a lot more fallible than the roles Stallone and Schwarzenegger were playing. He wasn’t a super soldier blasting through enemies like they weren’t there. John was a typical guy who accomplished exceptional feats.
Willis’ career was propelled into the stratosphere by John McClane. As strange as it may sound, before Die Hard, Willis was primarily renowned as a humorous performer. In four more Die, Willis would return as McClane. He starred in movies like Pulp Fiction, 12 Monkeys, The Fifth Element, Armageddon, and M. Night Shyamalan’s The Sixth Sense in the 1990s, making him one of Hollywood’s biggest stars at the time.
Unfortunately, Willia’s star declined significantly as he entered the 2000s and 2010s. Even though Unbreakable, Looper, and to some extent, The Expendables were still box office successes, he started acting in straight-to-DVD movies that reviewers negatively reviewed. Who are we to judge, though, when his films have earned $5 billion worldwide as of this writing, ranking him among the highest-grossing actors in the world?
Alan Rickman – Hans Gruber
Hans Gruber is one of the best villains to ever appear on film. He is slick, charming, and cunning. Thanks to Alan Rickman’s outstanding performance, Hans, a brilliant thief, and criminal genius, narrowly avoided taking $640 million in negotiable bearer bonds and the entire movie.
Rickman’s first film role would be Hans, but it wouldn’t be his last. Throughout the years, he has portrayed various roles, including the Sheriff of Nottingham in Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves, Colonel Brandon in Sense and Sensibility, Metatron in Kevin Smith’s Dogma, and the incredibly bitter Alexander Dane in Galaxy Quest.
Though Rickman will likely be best known for his portrayal of the sneering Severus Snape in the Harry Potter films, unfortunately, Rickman received a pancreatic cancer diagnosis in August 2015, and he passed away in January 2016, just a few months later. The talented actor was remembered for his kindness, generosity, and incredible talent as friends and admirers paid tribute to him. We will never forget him.
Bonnie Bedelia – Holly Gennero-McClane
The wife of John McClane and an aspirational businesswoman is Holly Gennero. When you think about it, Holly is the one who saved the day because it was she that invited John to Nakatomi Plaza, but that discussion can wait for another time. After Die Hard, Bonnie Bedelia returned to play Holly in Die Hard 2, but she didn’t appear in Die Hard 3, 4, or 5—not that she needed the money.
Bedelia kept acting in movies and TV shows, including Needful Things by Stephen King and Munchausen by Ari Aster. However, she had the most success on television. Bedelia featured as Captain Kate McCafferty in The Division on Lifetime from 2001 to 2004 and as a series regular in Parenthood from 2010 to 2015.
Hart Bochner – Harry Ellis
Harry Ellis, the sleazy, cocaine-addled Nakatomi executive, was portrayed by Hart Bochner. Ellis naturally believed he could talk with Hans Gruber to end the siege of Nakatomi Plaza. That practically blew up in his face, but the actor who created Ellis persisted in his career in television and film.

After Rickman shot him, he appeared on shows like Grey’s Anatomy, Criminal Minds, and Scandal. The Innocent, Batman: The Mask of the Phantasm, and the remake of Carrie is among his filmography credits.
De’voreaux White – Argyle
De’voreaux White’s most notable performance was as the arrogant limo driver Argyle in Die Hard, but White has a long list of other cinema credits. White appeared in the 1992 film Trespass, and the 1988 Gene Hackman film Split Decisions.
In the television series Head of the Class from 1989 to 1991, he also portrayed Aristotle McKenzie. For the short Die Hard is Back, a battery advertisement, he returned to the role of Argyle.
