TikTok Banned On All U.S. Issued Devices: According to an internal memo acquired by NBC News, the US House of Representatives has directed its workers to remove TikTok from any mobile devices provided by the House, forbidding them from downloading it in the future.
The email stated that the office’s cybersecurity team had determined TikTok to be a “high risk to users due to several security risks,” according to the email sent by the House’s chief administrative officer Catherine L. Szpindor on Tuesday.
The memo stated, “House workers are NOT permitted to download the TikTok app on any House mobile devices.” “You will be asked to request the removal of the TikTok app if it is on your House mobile device.”

TikTok, one of the most well-known apps in the US, is owned by Beijing-based ByteDance. It is used daily by tens of millions of Americans.
Additionally, several members of Congress utilize TikTok to interact with their supporters. However, growing security worries have forced government representatives to issue risk warnings.
The $1.7 trillion (£1.4 trillion) omnibus budget package agreed upon by Congress last week contains a provision that forbids TikTok from being used on some federal equipment.
All devices used by the executive branch include a restriction on the video-sharing app and any ByteDance-provided software. Members of Congress and their staff were exempt from it.
The Senate, where some members, including Republican Senator Marco Rubio, have asked for the app to be banned in the US, is exempt from the House’s instruction.
After the midterm elections, FBI Director Christopher Wray alerted Congressmen that the Chinese government could utilize TikTok to manage users’ devices for political impact or espionage objectives.
To address security concerns, TikTok has stated that it does not store US user data in China, does not share information with the Chinese government, and is now in negotiations with the Justice Department.
“We’ve been working with the federal government on a solution that removes any perceived concern with TikTok beyond a doubt,” said TikTok vice president and America’s public policy head to NBC News.
A TikTok representative did not immediately answer an inquiry for comments regarding the House ban.
