Tori Bowie Cause of Death: U.S. Olympic Sprinter Tori Bowie Passes at 32

Tori Bowie Cause of Death

Tragic news struck the sports world with the passing of U.S. Olympic champion sprinter Tori Bowie, who succumbed to complications during childbirth, as revealed by an autopsy report. Bowie, a decorated athlete who clinched three medals at the 2016 Rio de Janeiro Games, left the world at the age of 32.

The official report from the medical examiner’s office in Orlando, Florida, indicated that Bowie was approximately eight months pregnant and displayed signs of being in labor when she was discovered lifeless on May 2. She was found in her residence, where she had been secured, with potential complications including respiratory distress and eclampsia. The autopsy concluded that the cause of death was natural.

The Orange County Sheriff’s Office responded to a well-being check in early May at her residence, prompted by concerns for a woman in her 30s who had not been seen or heard from for several days. She was later identified as Frentorish “Tori” Bowie. Toxicology reports returned negative results, with her medical history indicating bipolar disorder.

Bowie’s journey in the world of athletics began in Mississippi, where she was taken in by her grandmother as an infant. Initially, she considered herself a basketball player and only reluctantly transitioned to track and field during her teenage years.

It was in this domain that she flourished into an elite sprinter and long jumper. Bowie pursued her education at Southern Mississippi, where she achieved a remarkable feat by sweeping the long jump NCAA championships in both indoor and outdoor events in 2011.

Her shining moment came at the 2016 Rio Olympics, where Bowie secured silver in the 100-meter and bronze in the 200-meter events. Additionally, she anchored the 4×100 relay team alongside Tianna Bartoletta, Allyson Felix, and English Gardner, clinching the gold.

A year later, she continued her dominance by winning the 100 meters at the 2017 World Championships in London. Bowie’s contributions also played a pivotal role in securing gold for the 4×100 relay team.
