Following their recent dismissal from major cable networks, Tucker Carlson and Don Lemon have retained the same formidable attorney to handle their exits.
Bryan Freedman, a well-known attorney in Hollywood, has a history of obtaining multimillion-dollar settlements for TV stars and other celebrities.
He received a payout of Megyn Kelly’s entire contract when she left NBC and represents Chris Cuomo, the former CNN anchor suing the network for $125 million for wrongful termination after the network fired him in 2021.
The revelation that Mr. Lemon, one of CNN’s morning shows until recently, and Mr. Carlson, Fox’s most popular prime-time host, had retained Mr. Freedman, hinted at potential future conflicts.

In 1997, Mr. Freedman and Michael Taitelman established the Los Angeles-based legal firm Freedman and Taitelman. In the entertainment business, he represented well-known clients like Quentin Tarantino, Julia Roberts, Mariah Carey, Seth Rogen, and Gabrielle Union, earning him a reputation as a litigator who uses aggressive tactics.

He has defended fired TV hosts in recent years, notably Chris Harrison of “The Bachelor” and Mike Richards, a former executive producer of “Jeopardy!”
Additionally, he defended the Michael Jackson estate in a $100 million legal battle against the HBO film “Leaving Neverland,” which in 2020 was granted a request to proceed to private arbitration.
Mr. Freedman has appeared on The Hollywood Reporter’s annual list of the top 100 attorneys in the entertainment industry for the past 14 years. He told the magazine in 2022: “How do companies police their own? What sort of legal procedure is there?
According to court records, Mr. Freedman was charged with sexual assault in the 1980s while attending college. He ultimately resolved the case for $40,000 without admitting guilt. Insider first revealed the lawsuit and agreement.
