After a car chase in Beaumont on Saturday, two people were shot by police, and one officer was injured, according to the authorities.
Around 12:45 a.m. on Saturday, Beaumont Police Department officers were attempting to stop a pickup truck when it sped away and led them on a pursuit, according to the department.
The suspect truck allegedly turned around and started slamming police cars after entering a cul-de-sac in the 500 block of Xenia Avenue during the pursuit, which resulted in the shooting.
The suspect rammed the officers’ cars, injuring one of them, who was then brought to the hospital with non-life-threatening wounds, according to the police.
According to the authorities, the truck was occupied by three people. While the driver and a second passenger were rushed to a hospital for gunshot wounds, one just complained of slight discomfort. According to authorities, the second passenger suffered non-life-threatening injuries, while the driver was in serious condition.
As per departmental regulation, the concerned officers were placed on administrative leave. The cops’ names weren’t immediately known.
