After weeks of speculation, the reports that Apple bought Beats by Dre for $3 billion were finally confirmed on May 28, 2014. The proposed acquisition price from Apple is $2.6 billion in cash and $400 million in shares. Dr. Dre and Jimmy Iovine each owned 25% of Beats at the time of the sale.
