Ethereum was founded by Russian-Canadian computer programmer Vitalik “Vitaly” Buterin, born in 1994. Buterin got interested in cryptocurrencies at the very beginning, helping to launch Bitcoin Magazine in 2011. Along with Dimitry Buterin, Gavin Wood, Charles Hoskinson, Anthony Di Iorio, and Joseph Lubin, Buterin launched Ethereum on blockchain in 2014.

When Ether fell to $300 in August 2018, Vitalik’s coins were valued at approximately $100 million before taxes. The unknown developers of the SHIB cryptocurrency stated in April 2021 that they had given Vitalik half of all the SHIB in circulation. Five hundred five billion coins or such. Those 505 billion SHIB were worth $8 billion a month later. When added to his other holdings, those 505 billion SHIB, valued at $14 billion on May 10, gave Vitalik a net worth of $16.3 billion.

Vitalik started selling off significant amounts of the donated alt-coins on May 12, 2021. He converted about $60 million in less than an hour, which he then presented to other charities. Additionally, he contributed the SHIB equivalent of $1 billion to a COVID relief fund for India. Eventually, he removed all of the gifts from his wallet.
