Emily Breidenbach Obituary: When Did She Die?

On April 8, 2023, Emily A. Breidenbach, 32, of Cameron, Wisconsin, passed away in the afterlife while performing her duties for the City of Chetek Police Department.

In Portage, Wisconsin, on December 24, 1990, Susan M. (Breidenbach) Myers and Robert L. Breidenbach welcomed a daughter named Emily.

Emily attended Northcentral Technical College in Wausau, Wisconsin after graduating from Merrill High School in 2009, earning an associate’s degree in criminal justice and police science in 2011.

She continued her education at the University of Wisconsin Green Bay, earning a bachelor’s degree in 2013 in crisis, emergency, and disaster management. In 2015, she graduated from the academy while attending Blackhawk Technical College in Janesville, Wisconsin.

From 2015 to 2016, she started working for the City of Stoughton Police Department. With the City of Chetek Police Department, where Emily was working at the time of her passing, she accepted a police officer post in 2019.

Emily was dedicated to making Chetek a joyful and secure place for everyone who visited and lived there. She worked as a volunteer for Cops for Kids for numerous years.

She was given the WEAU-TV Sunshine Award in 2019. She was chosen as the board’s president of the Chetek Youth Center in 2021 and the local chapter’s vice president in 2022.

Officer Grizz the K-9 and Emily were passionate about working with and helping the young people in the community.

Emily most recently ran for trustee in the Wisconsin village of Cameron. In March 2023, she and Shane Scribner became engaged. The four daughters of Scribner were thrilled to learn about this.

Not just in her neighborhood, but everywhere she went, she won the hearts of many. She served as a confidante, guide, and sympathetic ear. She made an impact in the most incredible manner and proudly served the Chetek community.

When she wasn’t working, Emily liked traveling, hunting and fishing, riding her motorcycle, and hanging out with her family and friends.

In addition to her mother Susan M. Myers, half-brother Michael L. Breidenbach, brother Benjamin R. Breidenbach, grandmother Patricia E. Borchardt, and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins, Emily is also survived by her father Robert L. Breidenbach.

Her stepfather Timothy H. Myers, grandfathers James Borchardt and Robert F. Breidenbach, stepgrandmother Wilma Bernhardt, stepgrandfather Walter Bernhardt, and uncles Rick and Terry Myers predeceased her.

On April 15, Emily’s public funeral service will be placed at Cameron High School, officiated by Police Chaplain Cody Kargus. From the time of visitation at 9:00 am till the conclusion of the service at 1:00 pm.

Following the service outside the high school, police honors will immediately occur. At a later time, there will be a private family burial.
