1 Injured In Shooting Near Muni Station In San Francisco, Police Say

Police in San Francisco are investigating a shooting late Friday afternoon at Market Street and Van Ness Avenue.

After 4 p.m., San Francisco police units responded to an incident at the intersection that shut down one of the Van Ness Muni station’s entrances.

At about 4:08 PM, the victim, a 30-year-old guy, was shot. According to authorities, he was brought to a nearby hospital and was expected to live.

Around 4:15 p.m., the incident was first reported, and many San Francisco police and fire units responded.

SFPD Deputy Chief Raj Vaswani said the department’s investigative unit handled the incident.

A picture of police at the intersection’s southeast corner, next to the Bank of America ATMs and the entrance to Van Ness Station, was shared on the SFMTA Twitter account. The area was sealed off with yellow crime scene tape.

The southeast entrance of Van Ness Station was shut down, but Muni Metro service continued as usual.

There were no immediate reports of arrests.
