The burial service and FDNY ceremony for the Long Beach, New York City firefighter who tragically passed away while on vacation with his family will occur in Oceanside on Friday.
At Towers F*neral Home, 2681 Long Beach Road, Casey Skudin’s f*neral services begin at 11 a.m. They’re anticipated to end at 1:30 pm. Skudin’s visitation will occur at the f*neral home on Thursday from 3–7 p.m.
Visitors are asked to refrain from wearing black, per a specific request from family and friends.
On Friday, June 17, during a windstorm in Asheville, North Carolina, Skudin, 45, was ki!!ed when a tree fell on the SUV, he and his family rode in.
Skudin was enjoying his birthday while on vacation with his wife and their two boys, Ben, 19, and CJ, 10. Skudin would have turned 46 on Father’s Day.

Skudin served on Queens’ Ladder 137 in Rockaway Park. He had served in the department for 16 years and had received the FDNY Medal.
Skudin’s family has been given access to a GoFundMe website.
“Always willing to step in and help out, Casey was a highly decorated 16 year veteran of the FDNY who received multiple medals for his bravery, especially during Superstorm Sandy,” the GoFundMe post states. “Angela, Ben, and CJ have an overwhelming amount of healing ahead of them. We hope to support them by taking away any stress along the way.”
