Dan Orlovsky, born on August 18, 1983, is an American football commentator for ESPN and a former quarterback who played in the NFL for a total of twelve seasons. In the 2005 NFL Draft, the Detroit Lions selected him in the fifth round.
He attended the University of Connecticut and participated in football there. Orlovsky played for the Houston Texans, Indianapolis Colts, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and Los Angeles Rams, and his 33 throwing touchdowns as a junior was seventh in NCAA Division 1-A.

He was Shelton High School’s starting quarterback during his sophomore year. His senior year, the Gaels were undefeated (12-0) and won the state championship thanks to his 2,489 yard passing season. According to his contract, he was a member of the football team for the University of Connecticut, known as the UConn Huskies.

In the 2005 NFL Draft, Dan was chosen with pick number 145. His first NFL start was against the Minnesota Vikings on October 12, 2008, and the score was 12-10. Additionally, he started the 2008 season’s last game, although his club still went winless.
In March of 2009, Dan Orlovsky signed with the Texans. He was the Texans’ third quarterback after Rex Grossman beat him out for the backup role in the preseason. Orlovsky replaced Grossman as the backup quarterback for the next season.
On July 30, 2011, Dan signed with the Indianapolis Colts. Orlovsky and the Colts defeated the Titans 13-0 on December 18th, 2011. On March 15th, 2012, Orlovsky signed with the Buccaneers.
In April of the following year, Orlovsky was waived by the Buccaneers before being re-signed. When the Detroit Lions needed a backup quarterback for Matthew Stafford, they signed him on April 2. On July 20th, 2017, Dan signed with the Rams. On September 2nd, the team released him. On October 11th, 2017, Dan officially retired from his career.
