She performs and is credited under the only stage name Wynonna for all of her solo work.
In the 1980s, she and her mother Naomi were a popular country singing duo called The Judds. On Curb Records, they put out seven albums and twenty-six singles, fourteen of which reached number one. In 1996, Judd tied the knot with Arch Kelley III. December 1994 saw the birth of their son, Elijah Judd. The conservative nature of her fan base meant that her having a child “out of wedlock” had an impact on her career at the time. After being married in 1995, the pair had another kid before filing for a divorce in 1998.
In November 2003, she wed D.R. Roach, who would later become her second husband. Roach was taken into custody in 2007 on charges of sexually assaulting a juvenile under the age of thirteen. Five days after that, she disembarked from her marriage. Judd tied the knot with her longtime lover, Cactus Moser—the drummer for Highway 101—at her home in Leiper’s Fork, Tennessee, on June 10, 2012.
After two months, Moser’s left leg had to be amputated due to the terrible injuries he sustained in a motorbike accident in South Dakota. Grace, daughter of Wynonna, pled guilty to methamphetamine possession, production, and distribution in June 2018, and was sentenced to eight years in prison for violating probation.
After The Judds’ final performance at the 2022 CMT Music Awards and the day before they were inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame, Naomi Judd took her own life in April 2022 by shooting. Both Wynonna and her sister Ashley gave moving tributes to their mother during the following day’s service.
