Sonya Eddy Died: “General Hospital is devastated to confirm the departure of actress Sonya Eddy,” a spokeswoman told ET. “She personified her role… the stern, but compassionate head nurse, Epiphany Johnson – and immediately became a fan favorite and valued member of our GH family.”
In a statement to ET, General Hospital executive producer Frank Valentini said, “I am heartbroken about the passing of the amazing Sonya Eddy. “She was not just a talented actress but also a dear friend to me. Although the nurses’ station hub lights will now be a little darker, her spirit and light will continue to shine in the program and on our set. We offer her family, friends, and supporters our sincere condolences on behalf of the entire GH cast and crew. She is greatly missed.”

On Tuesday, Octavia Spencer revealed the information while paying respect to her close friend on Instagram.
Spencer posted a photo of Eddy with the comment, “My friend @sonyaeddy passed away last night. “Another creative angel left the planet. Her hordes of fans at @generalhospitalabc will miss her. Her loved ones, friends, and admirers are in my prayers and thoughts.”

Nina Parker, Retta, Holly Robinson Peete, and other celebrities posted condolences to Eddy in the comments section.
General Hospital “won’t be the same” without her, according to a fan, who also said that Eddy “would be dearly missed.”
