Worker Died After Being Injured: Officials reported that a worker at a Chicago suburb pizza business passed away after an injury while cleaning the factory’s manufacturing floor.
Authorities reported that Leily Lopez-Hernandez, 29, of Waukegan, died while working at the Miracapo Pizza Co. plant in Gurnee on Thursday. The Lake County Coroner’s Office conducted an autopsy, which revealed that she had suffered crushing and piercing wounds before passing away.
Lopez-Hernandez was hurt while cleaning a spot on the factory floor at 1 a.m. on Thursday. Fire officials determined she passed away at the site, according to Chief Deputy Coroner Steve Newton, according to The (Arlington Heights) Daily Herald.
