Andy Cohen Responds To Ryan Seacrest’s New Year’s Eve Snub Claim: “He’s Got A Bug Up About Me”!

So much for the apparent conflict between Ryan Seacrest and Andy Cohen, two other hosts of New Year’s Eve programming, being forgotten or never mentioned.

Andy Cohen addressed Seacrest during his Andy Cohen Live podcast on Wednesday after Seacrest said on Live With Kelly and Ryan the day before that Anderson Cooper said hello to him warmly during their separate year-end programs, but Andy Cohen did not. During Seacrest headlines ABC’s Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve, Cohen co-hosts CNN’s New Year’s Eve Live with Cooper.

Andy Cohen referred to Ryan Seacrest’s earlier remarks urging CNN’s staff to limit their New Year’s Eve drinking by saying, “He’s got a bug up about me, two weeks in a row.”

Following that, Andy Cohen presented audio from Kelly and Ryan in which Seacrest was heard telling Kelly Ripa, his co-host, “Anderson, the best — he turns around and says, “Have a good show.” Andy did not go back. Asserting that this was “not true,” Ripa immediately shot out that Andy Cohen had been attempting to attract the American Idol host’s attention.

Andy Cohen continued by claiming that he was unaware of Anderson Cooper waving to Seacrest and even attributed some of the blame to his co-host and close friend. Cohen recalled Cooper’s behavior with Ryan: “Usually if he’s waving at Ryan, he’ll remark to me, Hey, there’s Ryan.” “I’ll then swing around and wave. Ryan didn’t do that, but I’ll either say that or point him out.

Then, during an episode of Andy Cohen Live, Andy Cohen called Cooper to seek further information about the incident. Cooper recalled that Cohen was engaged in conversation with a producer. Cohen said, “I didn’t see him,” after confirming that he didn’t avoid speaking hello to Seacrest on purpose.

The two publicly resolved their differences when Andy Cohen appeared as a guest on Thursday on Thursday on Ryan Seacrest’s On Air radio show. Ryan, I didn’t know where we stood, Cohen said. I must admit that I enjoy seeing folks fight. I dislike conflict with other people.

Seacrest then reassured him, saying, “Well, we’re not. The fun part is that we aren’t. Cohen continued, jokingly blaming Cooper for the predicament, saying, “This is truly an Anderson issue.”

This argument began during the New Year’s Eve programming from the year before, which aired on December 31, 2021. At that time, Cohen, who had been drinking alcohol with Anderson Cooper the entire time, referred to the ABC broadcast as “Ryan Seacrest’s group of losers.”

In an interview released the week before New Year’s Eve, Seacrest called CNN’s decision to restrict on-air drinking a “wonderful idea.” During their most recent New Year’s Eve Live, Cohen and Cooper abstained from alcohol, with involuntary sobriety being a common topic of conversation throughout the event.
