Melvin was among the NBC correspondents who covered the August 2016 Olympics in Rio de Janeiro and the July 2016 horrific shooting of police officers in Dallas. In the same year, he took up hosting duties for what was then called MSNBC Live but is now called MSNBC Reports from José Daz-Balart.
Melvin starred as the host of his actual crime show, Dateline: Secrets Uncovered. The premiere aired on July 21st on the Oxygen network.
