Damar Hamlin Uncle Says: On Tuesday, Damar Hamlin’s family issued a statement thanking the public for its support and pleading with them to keep praying for Buffalo Bill’s safety, who is still in the hospital and is in serious condition after suffering a heart attack on the field in Cincinnati on Monday night.
“On behalf of our entire family, we would like to thank everyone for their kindness and support given to Damar during this trying time. The prayers, kind words, and donations from admirers throughout the nation have incredibly touched us, the family stated in a statement posted early Tuesday.
“We also want to thank the committed emergency personnel and medical staff at the University of Cincinnati Medical Center for their superb care of Damar. Being a member of the Buffalo Bills organization and receiving their support makes us feel fortunate. We also want to thank Coach Taylor and the Bengals for all they have done. Your kindness and caring genuinely mean a lot to us. Please continue to pray for Damar. As soon as we have updates, we will release them.

Hamlin’s uncle, Dorrian Glenn, told ESPN’s Coley Harvey outside the hospital on Tuesday night that Hamlin is under anesthesia and “better from where he was yesterday” and that “we will continue to pray. I know he is in great hands with the medical team he has here.” They have been working quite hard.
Jeremy Fowler of ESPN was informed by Ron Butler, Hamlin’s agent, that Hamlin’s oxygen levels have increased.
According to Glenn, Hamlin needed to be revived on the field at Paycor Stadium and once after he got to the hospital. He added that potential lung injury is another worry.
Glenn told ESPN, “I know he’s still here, and I know he’s fighting. We are grateful for everyone’s prayers and support, which have come from around the world and the United States. Seeing it makes a big difference for my family, and I know Damar will feel differently once he does too.
Glenn detailed the Monday night emotions among the family members while watching the game with them in Pittsburgh.
At first, we assumed it was simply a routine hit and that he popped back up, possibly taking a few plays off before returning, Glenn said. But I’ve never heard my nephew, Damir, Hamlin’s 7-year-old younger brother, scream and cry like that. I realized things were serious when 10 minutes had passed and 20 minutes had passed.
After the game was postponed, Glenn said, “We packed up two cars and drove from Pittsburgh to Cincinnati just to be here to support my nephew.”
They traveled nearly 300 miles to Cincinnati, arriving early on Tuesday.
Glenn responded, “I am not even going to lie, I turned around,” when asked what he saw when he got to see Hamlin in the hospital. I was unable to perform. I prefer to wait until he recuperates to speak and see my nephew again since I don’t want to see him in such a condition.
Out of respect for Hamlin, several clubs postponed their Tuesday media appearances, including the Kansas City Chiefs, Philadelphia Eagles, New England Patriots, and Indianapolis Colts. After guard Brandon Scherff spoke, the Jacksonville Jaguars canceled the remainder of their availability.
During his weekly press conference on Tuesday, Steelers coach Mike Tomlin stated, “It’s a tremendously personal thing for me. It is from Pittsburgh, as well as the young man.
Tomlin remarked, “I’ve known that guy since he was around 12.” “I have so much love and respect for him as a person. It’s a privilege to get to know young individuals like that because of their dedication to achieving their aspirations and goals, which include playing in the NFL. It’s also inspiring to watch them make important life decisions. I’ve got a chance to tell him that anytime I see him.
To “lend any support I could,” he continued, he had been in touch with Bills head coach Sean McDermott.
In a statement released early on Tuesday, Cincinnati Bengals president Mike Brown said that the organization’s “hearts are with everyone in this unprecedented time — what we can do is support one another.”
The NFL and our hometown were both slated to have a fantastic night last night. Instead, the human aspect of our sport took precedence, and at that point, humanity and love came to the fore, according to Brown’s remark. The spectators in the stadium and people across the nation strengthened the support for Damar and affection between the two sides as medical professionals carried out unprecedented steps.
“The Bengals are appreciative of everyone’s kindness and love. I wish Damar well.
After going into cardiac arrest following a hit during the Bills’ later-postponed game against the Bengals, Hamlin, 24, had his heartbeat restored on the field. After collapsing during his tackle of Bengals wide receiver Tee Higgins, Hamlin received CPR on the area for several minutes. Around 16 minutes after collapsing, according to the ESPN broadcast, Hamlin was given oxygen while he was brought off the field and placed in the ambulance. He was subsequently taken to the close-by University of Cincinnati Medical Center.

The Bills selected Hamlin, a Pittsburgh native, with the 212th overall choice in the sixth round of the 2021 NFL Draft.
In a statement released Tuesday, Pitt coach Pat Narduzzi said, “Damar Hamlin is far more than just a football player.” He is a caring brother, friend, and son. For thousands of Pittsburgh children, Damar is a hero. Damar, you are beloved. For you, we are in prayer. You’ve always got Pittsburgh’s support. And the entire nation is also on your side.
Vigils were staged in Cincinnati and in front of the Bills’ home stadium as players and supporters across the NFL came together to show their support for Hamlin. The Buffalo Bills’ social media ad was updated to feature Hamlin’s No. 3 jersey and the phrase “Pray For Damar.” The remaining 31 teams in the league swiftly imitated them.
The Bills were welcomed home early on Tuesday by a few spectators who had gathered by the side of the road outside Buffalo Niagara International Airport to observe in silence.
Bills left tackle Dion Dawkins noted on “SportsCenter” that “we are susceptible beings.” “While our brother fights, we have stripped off all of that armor and are acting like normal people.” We’re coming together with only positive thoughts, lovely feelings, and prayers. We all strive to be our best versions because we are human. We are all just people with families, families of our own, with the same compassion, tears, and vulnerability as everyone else.
In contrast, the Pro Football Hall of Fame revealed on Tuesday that, out of respect for Hamlin, it had postponed the release of the 15 modern-era player finalists for the class of 2023 for at least 24 hours. Wednesday at 8 p.m. ET has been proposed as the new time for the announcement. The Hall of Fame and NFL Network will broadcast the information and discuss the issue during their meeting on Wednesday.
