Jamie Raskin Cancer Diagnosis: In a statement on Wednesday, Rep. Jamie Raskin described diffuse large B-cell lymphoma as “a devastating but treatable form of cancer.”
“With the benefit of early detection and fine doctors, the help of my extraordinary staff, the love of Sarah and our daughters and sons-in-law (actual and to-be) and family and friends, and the support of my beloved constituents and my colleagues in the House, I plan to get through this and, in the meantime, to keep making progress every day in Congress for American democracy,” the Maryland Democrat said in a statement.
After “many days of tests,” the congressman claimed to have received a diagnosis and will “start a course of chemo-immunotherapy on an outpatient basis” at MedStar Georgetown University Hospital. After four months of therapy, he claimed, the prognosis was “good” for most people in his circumstances.

Pramila Jayapal (D-Wash.), who added that he would “get through this even as he strives to protect our democracy.” Raskin was referred to as a “national treasure” and an “oasis of legal integrity and intellect” by Rep. Ritchie Torres (D-NY), who also expressed his wishes for Raskin to have a “strong and speedy recovery.”
