The former offensive lineman for the Nebraska Cornhuskers, Cole Pensick, has passed away at 32, and the college football community is grieving.
According to a statement from Polk County (Neb.) The Sheriff’s Office, Pensick, was in an automobile accident on Saturday morning.
Pensick was declared de@d at the collision scene around 6:45 in the morning.
Pensick played on the offensive line for the Cornhuskers in their successful 2013 campaign, which saw them finish 9-4 overall, 5-3 in the Big Ten, and inside the top 20 nationally in total rushing offense.
The Lincoln Northeast alumnus played center and guard at Nebraska and was talented.
Before a knee injury forced him to miss the final two games of the 2013 season, he started 12 of the 13 games he played in and appeared in all 13. He played center in 11 of those games and guard in the other.

His outstanding performance during his senior season earned him a spot on the Second Team All-Big Ten by the league’s coaches.
In Nebraska’s 2014 Gator Bowl victory over Georgia, Pensick was one of 19 seniors who participated on the team.
Dan Pensick, a three-year letterman at Nebraska from 1977 to 1979, was the father of Cole.
Pensick is the second former Nebraska football player to pass away in a traffic incident recently. According to sources, Mark Pelini, a former offensive lineman for the Huskers, perished in a 2014 collision in Indiana after his truck struck a deer and collided with another vehicle.
