Former Mueller Prosecutor: Top Mueller investigator Andrew Weissmann blasted the Biden White House on social media for how it handled sensitive materials and the ensuing media backlash. Weissmann is looking into the affairs of former President Donald Trump.
Weissmann, who served as former Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s “pitbull” during the Russia probe, tweeted on Saturday, “The WH keeps digging a hole deeper: they have failed to answer so many questions, which is really weird if this is all an innocent error.”
“Total number of government docs found and precisely where; and what levels of classification?” The tweet continued. “Why wasn’t this all revealed in Nov/Dec?”
Just days after the American public learned that classified documents from Biden’s time as vice president had been improperly stored at a Washington, D.C. office, Weissmann, a longtime Democrat donor and fierce opponent of former President Trump, tweeted on the same day it was revealed that five more classified documents were found at President Biden’s home.
Since November 2nd of last year, when Biden’s personal attorneys “unexpectedly discovered” documents with classified markings at the Penn Biden Center for Diplomacy and Global Engagement office, classified documents have been found both at that office and at Biden’s Wilmington, Delaware home on numerous occasions.
Republican and Democratic critics have questioned why it took so long for the American people to hear that the sensitive records were being unlawfully stored, but the White House maintains that it’s handling of the situation has been “transparent.”
Additionally, when the White House was informed of the classified materials days before the November midterm elections but chose not to make that information public, Republicans and a number of journalists questioned whether perhaps political motivations were at play.
Additionally, Biden has come under fire for remarks he made earlier this week that seemed to imply the secret documents discovered in his Delaware garage were secure because that is where he stores his treasured 1968 Corvette Stingray.
Republicans have also cited Biden’s vehement criticism of Donald Trump, the previous president, for allegedly handling secret data improperly and said that the White House has applied a double standard.
