How I Met Your Mother Cast: Throughout its nine-season run and the years that followed, How I Met Your Mother was a pop culture sensation. It’s a show that has elicited just as many smiles as it has tears.
How I Met Your Mother, a Carter Bays, and Craig Thomas production, recounted the love story of Josh Radnor’s character Ted Mosby backward, finally leading up to the time he met his children’s mother. Alyson Hannigan played Lily Aldrin, Jason Segel played Marshall Eriksen, Neil Patrick Harris played Barney Stinson, and Cobie Smulders played Cobie (Robin Scherbatsky).
The late Bob Saget served as a futuristic Ted Mosby in the sitcom, which aired on CBS from 2005 until 2014. In 2016, Radnor said to HuffPost Live, “Something about How I Met Your Mother was [that] always upended your assumptions.” It never was what you thought it was and always made you cry.
The conclusion of the highly regarded concert was planned out years in advance. Longtime HIMYM fans, however, expressed their dissatisfaction with the series finale because of its contentious conclusion when it concluded in 2014.
Smulders came out in support of the sitcom’s climax four years later. In December 2018, she told Newsweek, “I would say, I’ve had people tell me when they binge watch it [now], they don’t have a problem with the finale.” “To them, it makes logic. That is what sort of our creator had in mind from the start.
Shortly after the show’s conclusion, it was revealed that CBS was developing a spinoff series with Bays, Thomas, and Emily Spivey under the title How I Met Your Dad. This Is Us co-executive producers Isaac Aptaker and Elizabeth Berger were chosen to take on the project two years after it was finally abandoned.

However, after being promoted to executive producers/co-showrunners on This Is Us, Aptaker and Berger quickly discovered that they were too busy to balance creating the sitcom spinoff. Alison Bennett, a writer, and producer best known for FX’s You’re the Worst, took over the next year.
Hilary Duff was cast as the lead of the spinoff, formally confirmed in April 2021. Before production on the series began in August 2021, Francia Raisa, Tom Ainsley, Tien Tran, Surah Sharma, Chris Lowell, Josh Peck, and Daniel Augustin were cast.
