In the National Basketball Association (NBA), the top men’s professional basketball league in the world, Josh Giddey, an Australian, is a player with the Oklahoma City Thunder.
He was raised in the Yarraville neighborhood of Melbourne, Australia, where he was born. Josh Giddey attended the NBA Global Academy in Canberra after displaying extraordinary basketball talent at a young age. He attended UC Senior Secondary College Lake Ginninderra while also honing his basketball skills in Canberra.
Josh Giddey achieved a number of successes prior to turning eighteen. Among them was leading the NBA Global Academy to victory in the Torneo Junior Ciutat de L’Hospitalet in Barcelona, where he was named MVP.
Josh Giddey Net Worth
Josh Giddey agreed to a $27.2 million, four-year contract with the Oklahoma City Thunder. The value of his first-season compensation with the team is $5.9 million. According to reports, this has gone up to $6.5 million for 2023–2024 and $6.3 million for 2022–2023 seasons.

The Basketball Career of Josh Giddey
Adelaide 36ers
With the Adelaide 36ers, an Australian basketball team that plays in the National Basketball League (NBL) in Australia, Josh Giddey made his professional basketball debut. He was enrolled in the league’s Next Stars program upon joining, which seeks to identify athletes with the talent to play in the NBA in the United States. Josh Giddey became the first basketball player from Australia to join the program in this way.
Josh Giddey was the youngest Australian basketball player to record a triple-double (scoring 10 or more points in three of the five scoring categories) in a single game during the 2020–21 season while playing for the Adelaide 36ers. He was also the first Australian player to record a triple-double in back-to-back games. Giddey was named NBL Rookie of the Year.
At the conclusion of the season, Josh Giddey was cut loose to enter the actual NBA draft. As the NBL Rookie of the Year, he was traded from the Adelaide 36ers. The Oklahoma City Thunder selected Josh Giddey with the sixth overall pick after he qualified for the NBA draft in 2021.
But when taking part in the preseason NBA Summer League competition, he injured his ankle on the same day he signed a deal with the organization. Thankfully, Giddey managed to make his NBA debut on October 20 and score his first double-double in the NBA the following day, October 27. With LeBron James leading the way, he became the third-youngest player to record at least ten assists in a game.
Actually, according to Fox Sports, LeBron has said wonderful things about the Australian kid, claiming that “he’s really, really, really good,” “play[s] beautiful basketball,” and “has great vision.” But in January 2022, Josh Giddey overtook LeBron as the youngest NBA player ever to post a triple-double.
On April 12, 2023, during the play-in tournament leading up to the 2023 NBA playoffs, Giddey had the best performance of his career (so far) with OKC against the New Orleans Pelicans. In his first-ever postseason game, he scored 31 points (25% of OKC’s total points), had 10 assists, 9 rebounds, and a 50% field goal percentage.
Josh Giddey’s Records
Since Josh Giddey has only been playing for a short while, his playing statistics aren’t quite several pages long. Still, they’re amazing reading given his age and relative inexperience with the game.
Josh Giddey has started and participated in 130 games as of the time of publication, averaging 31.3 minutes per game. Averaging 14.9 points and 6.3 assists per game, he shoots field goals at 45.9% and makes free throws at 72.3%.
Josh Giddey’s Partner
Josh Giddey’s love life isn’t as well-known as his time on the court since the rising Australian player seems to be more selective about his partners. Josh Giddey was allegedly dating Megan Eugenio, also known as Overtime Megan, earlier this year.
This was after Megan shared a photo of the two of them on X, which was formerly Twitter, following Oklahoma’s season-ending loss to the Pelicans. But this was soon debunked when rumors circulated that Eugenio and Cole Schwindt were having an open relationship.
Liv Cook
Videos purportedly showed Josh Giddey having a romantic relationship with Liv Cook, a high school junior, who is underage, on the social media site X, which was formerly Twitter.
Unsettling X users, Giddey is shown putting his arms around her and calling her “my girl” in a video that was shot for Cook’s brother. Despite the removal of the initial post and the deactivation of the user’s account, the content continues to circulate on the website.
