Justin Timberlake Solo Success
Despite the general downturn in boyband popularity, Timberlake’s star continued to climb, thanks in part to his appearance in the Disney Channel film “Model Behavior” in 2000. NSYNC recorded Timberlake’s song “Gone” for Michael Jackson in 2001 after Jackson rejected it. Timberlake’s debut solo single, “Like I Love You,” was published in August 2002, and his debut solo album, “Justified,” was released in November of the same year. By the summer of 2003, Timberlake and Christina Aguilera became co-headliners on the Justified/Stripped Tour, a collaboration between the two former “Mickey Mouse Club” castmates.
After a wardrobe malfunction caused Timberlake to accidently expose one of Janet Jackson’s breasts at the 2004 Super Bowl XXXVII halftime show, he put his music career on pause to seek acting roles. For example, he starred in the 2006 films “Edison Force” and “Alpha Dog” (2006). It was in 2005 that JayTee Records was founded by him, a record company he has run ever since.
