Ken Block Accident: After a snowmobile accident in Wasatch County, Utah, Ken Block passed. A 55-year-old man, he. Block’s Hoonigan Industries initially issued a statement that confirmed the heartbreaking information.
“It’s with our deepest regrets that we can confirm that Ken Block passed away in a snowmobile accident today,” said Hoonigan on Instagram.
“Ken was a visionary, a pioneer, and an icon. And most importantly, a father and husband. He will be incredibly missed.”
Block started competing in rallies in 2005, but his spectacular Gymkhana YouTube films truly helped him rise to fame. The Gymkhana movies, which amassed hundreds of millions of views with ever-crazier vehicles, courses, and stunts, undoubtedly inspired a new generation of auto enthusiasts.
Block was also a co-founder of the company DC Shoes and served as “Head Hoonigan in Charge” of both the Hoonigan Racing Division and Hoonigan Industries. He had participated in rallycross, the WRC, vintage rallying, the X Games, and numerous other motorsport events.
The Wasatch County Sheriff’s Office released the following statement: “On January 2, 2023, at about 2:00 pm, the Wasatch County 911 Center received a call reporting a snowmobile accident in the Mill Hollow area.
“Search and Rescue, along with law enforcement from Wasatch County Sheriff’s Office, Utah State Parks, and the US Forest Service, responded.
“The driver, Kenneth Block, a 55-year-old male out of Park City, Utah, was riding a snowmobile on a steep slope when the snowmobile upended, landing on top of him. He was pronounced deceased from injuries sustained in the accident.”
Vaughn Gittin Jr., Block’s friend and fellow drift trader said: “I will always treasure the nearly 20 years of friendship and enjoyment we experienced while pursuing our goals. I will always appreciate the opportunity, guidance, and inspiration you provided. Many people smiled and were inspired by what you offered to the world, and you did it all while being a badass dad. Thank you. Regards and love to the Block family as a whole.
What a wonderful person to learn from, compete with, and admire over the last 20 years, Tanner Foust said in a tribute to Block. It is impossible to estimate Ken’s impact on the automotive industry. Ken Block was not only a pioneer in the marketing of motorsports and provided a model for the rest of us to follow, but he was also a loving family man. Lucy and the children are in my thoughts and prayers.

Over the years, we had the pleasure of working with Ken on many occasions, and his contributions were always so enduring and thrilling for our audience.
