After a domestic argument at the woman’s house earlier this month, a Massachusetts man has been arrested concerning the death of his ex-girlfriend, whom he is accused of shooting in the head.
After Kianna Barrows’ body was discovered in her Falmouth, Massachusetts home last week, Tyler Gibbs, 23, was detained. According to MassLive.com, he is accused of murder, attempting murder with a firearm, and possessing a gun without a valid license.
According to WCVB-TV, Kianna Barrows’ aunt contacted 911 on May 10 to report that her niece had been shot, which prompted officers to be sent to 49 Old Main Road. When they arrived, authorities saw Gibbs outside the house, where they said he was armed. According to court documents, Barrows was found inside dead with what appeared to be a gunshot wound to her head.
According to Cape and Islands District Attorney Michael O’Keefe, “they entered the residence and proceeded upstairs while a gunman was still outside the house brandishing the gun,” a Boston television station claimed.
Officials said that after a tense standoff with a SWAT squad that lasted around three hours, Gibbs, 23, eventually turned himself in. The incident didn’t result in any injuries. The young woman’s murder was classified as domestic-related by the prosecution, who claimed that the two had previously dated.
According to WCVB, Assistant District Attorney Mike Giardino added, “Miss Kianna Barrows was shot by this defendant multiple times during that domestic scenario and ultimately pronounced dead.”
According to her online obituary, relatives and friends remembered Kianna Barrows as a “kind” and “kind” young woman who was also a noisy storyteller and had a “fierce love” for her family and friends.
Her death was announced in a statement, “Our hearts are aching that we will never know what her gifts and talents would have graced this world with, and this world is weaker for it.”
According to the family, cosmetologist Kianna Barrows graduated from Upper Cape Regional School. She also had a job at the upholstery shop owned by her grandfather. Wednesday was the day of her funeral.
We will never forget what you have done for us, and the obituary said, “To our community of love here in Falmouth and beyond, we cannot describe how deeply you have impacted our hearts with all of your support through calls, texts, offerings, and love. “We are genuinely grateful and humbled.”
According to the Massachusetts Department of Correction jail documents that Oxygen.com has access to, Tyler Gibbs is now detained and being held without bail while awaiting trial. It’s unknown whether he hired legal representation to speak on his behalf. On June 22, he is due back in court.
