The highly anticipated second season of Made in Abyss, dubbed “the anime that is more than meets the eye,” has finally arrived, much to the delight of fans.
The excitement around the return of this show is well-deserved, as the first season caught our interest and left our imaginations wanting for more.
There are a lot of questions that need to be answered, from what exactly lies on the lowest floor of the abyss to whether Riko will ever find her mother (or the remains of her mother) to whether these kids will be able to handle the disasters that come with the descent. Thankfully, we won’t have to wait long to have our deepest desires fulfilled.
During a special live streaming event on YouTube on May 5, 2022, further information about Made in Abyss Season 2 was unveiled.
In attendance were Japanese voice actors Mariya Ise (Reg) and Miyu Tomita (Riko Azuna), as well as director Masayuki Kojima and producer Shinpei Yamashita.
Season 2 of Made in Abyss will premiere in July 2022, so mark your calendars!
The precise release date has yet to be announced, but if the upcoming season follows in the footsteps of the previous, fans may expect season 2 no later than July 7.
(I’m crossing my fingers!)

Made in Abyss Season 2 Plot
Season 2 will pick up where Season 1 left off, with Riko, Reg, and Nanachi embarking on a trip to further explore the unknowns of the abyss. They meet a princess who seems to know a lot about Reg’s origins and a lot of creatures who look exactly like Reg on their journey.
The trio also learns more about the abyss’ residents and how they managed to construct a civilization in such a dangerous environment. Perhaps the answers they receive will provide them with guidance on how to navigate the treacherous route ahead of them.
What will they discover? What new allies will they meet, and what adversaries will they encounter along the way? Everything will be disclosed in due course!
Made in Abyss Season 2 Where You Can Watch?
There is no word on when or where Made in Abyss Season 2 will air. International audiences, on the other hand, will most likely have to watch the series on HIDIVEor Amazon Prime.
While Made in Abyss is available on HIDIVE in most places, Season 1 is still available on Amazon Prime in North America. However, new titles are rarely added to the platform.
With Made in Abyss being one of the most anticipated anime releases this summer, you may expect another platform, such as HIDIVE, to pick up the slack if Amazon declines to air it
Made In Abyss Manga Compared To The Anime?
The winner of Crunchyroll’s Anime of the Year for 2017 was based on mangaka Tsukushi’s Made In Abyss manga series.
Since 2012, the manga has beenserializedserialised on a semi-monthly basis in Web Comic Gamma.
The manga had been published in tankobon hardcover format up to Volume 6 when the first season ended in 2017.
On May 30, 2019, Made In Abyss Volume 8 was released in Japan.
The release date for Made In Abyss Volume 9, which will include chapters beyond Chapter 51, has not yet been confirmed.
Depending on how the manga ends, it’s likely that Made In Abyss Season 2 will be the anime’s final season.
The Ilblu story arc is coming to an end, and the sixth layer story arc is almost complete.
The final manga chapter could be issued before 2024, assuming the seventh layer and Reg’s secret origins are disclosed as part of the manga’s ending.
Because significant manga content was omitted, it is recommended that readers who have already seen the anime begin at the beginning.
Readers who only read English will have to wait until 2019 for the official manga to catch up to the anime.
