“This is a solemn and serious matter that ended in the tragic loss of Jordan Neely’s life. As part of our rigorous ongoing investigation, we will review the Medical Examiner’s report, assess all available video and photo footage, identify and interview as many witnesses as possible, and obtain additional medical records,” the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office said in a statement.

In a statement, Wednesday, Rev. Al Sharpton, the founder of the National Action Network, demanded that the District Attorney and police “investigate this horrific incident as a potential case of manslaughter – if not m*rder. Thirty years ago, I fought the Bernard Goetz case and we cannot end up back to a place where vigilantism is tolerable. It wasn’t acceptable then and it cannot be acceptable now.”

According to the NYPD, Neely was 30 years old and the accused chokehold victim was 24. According to sources, the 24-year-old is thought to be a Marine.

According to the authorities who spoke to CBS New York, he allegedly detained Neely because he behaved strangely aboard a train in a station in Manhattan’s SoHo neighborhood.

According to the NYPD, Neely was unresponsive when police arrived and were taken to a hospital where he was later pronounced de@d.

According to Sharpton, Neely was homeless at the time of his passing.

“We hope the family of Jordan Neely will come forward so NAN can ensure he is funeralized properly and decently,” he said.
