Mariam Abdulrab left her late-night work at an Atlanta bar and went to the house she and her boyfriend shared. Her boyfriend saw a man kidnap her at gunpoint and push her into another car when she got out of her car at around 5 a.m. on Friday.
In a 911 call leaked by Atlanta police, her boyfriend frantically exclaimed, “Somebody just left with my girlfriend!” God, oh God.
Police said at a news conference on Friday that officers later received reports reporting the sound of gunfire and a corpse at another site. They concluded that Mariam Abdulrab’s body was the one found.
In the moments following the incident, Deputy Chief Charles Hampton Jr. told reporters, “As it relates to motive and stuff like that, I don’t know.
However, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution writes that a “person of interest” who Hampton claimed was arrested the same day has since been charged with murder, kidnapping, and other offenses.
According to the newspaper, the defendant, DeMarcus Brinkley, 27, was initially taken to the hospital with wounds received during a police chase that ended in a collision in Griffin.
According to online jail records, Brinkley is presently being held in the Fulton County jail on suspicion of kidnapping, murder, false imprisonment, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, and possession of a firearm by a felon. There is no bond or lawyer listed.
According to Sheila Gafeney, a customer at the Revery: VR Bar where Mariam Abdulrab worked, Abdulrab “was simply lovely.”
According to the television station, Chris Spencer, a different acquaintance, adding that “everyone liked her.” She was well-known in the neighborhood.

On the bar’s Instagram page, a post reads, “Our hearts are devastated at the loss of a great friend and family member.” “Mariam will always be missed since she provided light to everyone she interacted with.”
Everyone looked forward to seeing Mariam Abdulrab at work, on both sides of the bar, according to bar manager Dillon Knight, according to the Journal-Constitution. She had a big heart and would go above and above to care for or assist others.
