The popularity of Only Murders in the Building has only increased over time. The show, about three mismatched friends who broadcast a true-crime podcast, is an effective blend of light humor and suspenseful murder stories.
Because of that combination, it has been well received by both reviewers and viewers. The principal trio are played by Steve Martin, Martin Short, and Selena Gomez, with several other famous actors and actresses making cameo appearances.
In fact, Season 3 has Hollywood heavyweights Paul Rudd and Meryl Streep, along with prolonged cameos by Matthew Broderick and quick cameos from Mel Brooks. With the show’s popularity on the upswing, what can we expect from future episodes?
Only Murders in the Building: Will there be a Season 4?
Only Murders in the Building has been renewed for a fourth season, as reported by Variety on October 3. John Hoffman, who also contributed to the show’s conception, has declared his desire to keep Only Murders in the Building in production.
Many members of his cast have voiced similar things. Also, Season 3 ends in a way that makes it obvious that there will be a fourth season, so that announcement should come soon. In an interview with ScreenRant, John Hoffman, when asked how many seasons he hoped the show he developed with Steve Martin will run for, responded, “As many as they’ll have us for!” I mean this seriously.
I think I can speak for the whole trio when I say that everyone engaged in this concert is having a blast. When you combine this kind of lightning in a bottle with the amazing skill of others who see what you’re doing and think, “Wow, that looks like fun,” you have something very special. Yes, please include me in that. I pray that it extends its life for a long time.
That means the writer and the actors are interested in returning. And a murder has already occurred and has to be investigated. But SPOILERS AHEAD, since we’re about to get into the specifics of that Season 3 finale…
What Happens at the End of Only Murders Season 3?
Actor Ben Glenroy (Paul Rudd) is at the center of Season 3 of Only Murders in the Building. Wesley Taylor’s Clifford ‘Cliff’ DeMeo, a theater producer, is revealed in the series finale to have pushed him to his death.
As the investigation is closed and the cast of Oliver’s show prepares for opening night, Sazz Pataki (Jane Lynch) arrives to partake in the festivities. Then, while getting a bottle of wine from Charles’ apartment, an unknown attacker shoots her in the chest.
Someone obviously has it out for Charles if this is the case. Season 4 of Only Murders in the Building will feature Sazz Pataki’s murder if and when it occurs.
In the United States, Hulu and Disney+ are the only places to watch Murders in the Building online right now. To learn more about the series, visit this page.
