Paul Montgomery Shore was born in Los Angeles, California, on February 1, 1968. This is where Pauly Shore grew up. Mitzi Shore and her comedian husband, Sammy, opened The Comedy Store in 1972.
Mitzi and Sammy broke up in 1974, she took over as the single owner. After Mitzi died in 2018, Pauly took over as club manager. Shore grew up in a Jewish family with his three brothers, Peter, Scott, and Sandi.
He graduated from Beverly Hills High School in 1986. He spent a lot of his childhood around comics, and when he was 17, he did his first stand-up set at the Alley Cat Bistro in Culver City.
Sam Kinison became his teacher and often had Pauly open for him. While doing stand-up comedy on the road, Shore made up a character called “The Weasel” who was a surfer guy.
