Reward Climbs to $500k for Information on Suspect Who Placed Pipe Bombs Day Before Jan. 6

Reward Climbs to $500K: The reward for information that results in the capture of the person accused of planting two pipe bombs outside the national headquarters of the Democratic and Republican parties on January 5 has been increased to $500,000 by law authorities.

The news is made just two days before Friday’s attack on the U.S. Capitol’s second anniversary.

Nearly two years ago, a suspect allegedly carried two live pipe bombs through the alleyways of Capitol Hill while donning a hooded sweatshirt, a pair of Air Max Speed Turf sneakers with a yellow Nike emblem, a backpack, and gloves.

The hooded individual detonated those pipe bombs outside the Democratic National Committee and the Republican National Committee on the evening of January 5, 2021, starting at approximately 7:30 p.m. They did not explode, but the case has perplexed federal and local law officials.

Also, look at the following:

“They might have blown up. They might have blown up, “Speaking to ABC News Chief Justice Correspondent Pierre Thomas last year, Steven D’Antuono, the former assistant director in charge of the FBI’s Washington Field Office, described the situation. They are functional gadgets that may have exploded and caused many catastrophic injuries or fatalities. Since then, D’Antuono has left the FBI.

The U.S. Capitol is not far from the DNC or the RNC.

According to a press release from the FBI Washington Field Office, “Although these bombs did not detonate, it is important to remember the suspect walked along residential and commercial areas in Capitol Hill just blocks from the U.S. Capitol with viable pipe bombs that could have seriously injured or killed innocent bystanders.” The suspect “may still constitute a danger to the public or themselves,” according to the statement.

Previously, the prize was $100,000.

According to David Sundberg, assistant director in charge of the FBI Washington Field Office, “a devoted team of FBI agents, analysts, and law enforcement partners have been meticulously scrutinizing evidence and digital media linked to this case for the past two years.”

The FBI has interviewed over 1,000 people, visited more than 1,200 homes and businesses, gathered more than 39,000 video recordings, and evaluated close to 500 tips so far.

Since Kamala Harris, the vice president-elect at the time, had a meeting at the DNC on January 6, the bombs’ discovery was especially alarming.
