After six years of dating, Taylor Swift and actor Joe Alwyn are apparently no longer together.
The information was confirmed to PEOPLE by a source close to the duo. Swift and Alwyn’s representatives did not reply to EW’s request for comment on Sunday.
Swift and Alwyn were originally romantically associated in 2016. Swift is now on her Eras Tour. Despite their well-known secrecy, Swift frequently referenced Alwyn in her songs, such as “Lavender Haze” from Midnights and “Delicate” from Reputation, among others.
During the COVID-19 epidemic, the two wrote music together that would be included in Swift’s surprise quarantine albums Folklore and Evermore. Alwyn is listed as a co-writer on Folklore’s “Exile,” “Betty,” and Evermore’s “Champagne Issues,” “Coney Island,” and “Evermore” under the pseudonym William Bowery.
Alwyn received his first gramophone statuette in 2021 when Folklore won the Grammy for Album of the Year. Swift revealed that Alwyn is a “wonderful” pianist in her Disney+ video Folklore: The Long Pond Studio Sessions, revealing that Alwyn is a “beautiful” piano player. “He’s always just playing and making things up and kind of creating things,” she said.

In Swift’s most recent album Midnights, “Sweet Nothing,” Alwyn is also listed as a co-writer.
Alwyn called collaborating with Swift a “surreal” experience in an interview with GQ U.K. last year. “It was really the most accidental thing to happen in lockdown,” he said. “It wasn’t like, ‘It’s three o’clock, it’s time to write a song!’ It was just messing around on a piano and singing badly and being overheard and then thinking, you know, what if we tried to get to the end of it together?”
He added, “It was fun to do it together, and I was proud of it. It was nice getting such a positive reception.”
