Taylor Swift’s Fourth Album of the Year Victory Sets Record: The clock didn’t stop ticking for Taylor Swift before she made history. The pop sensation became the first artist in Grammy history to win Album of the Year four times with her tenth studio album, “Midnights,” taking home the top prize on the most prestigious night in music.
“I would love to tell you that this is the best moment of my life, but I feel this happy when I finish a song, or when I crack the code to a bridge that I love, or when I’m shot listing a music video, or when I’m rehearsing with my dancers, or my band or getting ready to go to Tokyo to play a show,” Swift stated during her performance.
Only Frank Sinatra, Stevie Wonder, and Paul Simon have won the award three times; Swift broke that record with her victory. With six nominations, Swift gave her second acceptance speech of the evening.
In her acceptance speech, she also announced the name and release date of her next album, “The Tortured Poets Department,” which is set to be released on April 19. She also won Best Pop Vocal Album.
Ceʁline Dion was another unexpected guest at Sunday night’s presentation; she gave Swift the last trophy. Dion’s sister said that the 54-year-old singer had “no control of her muscles” after being diagnosed with the rare neurological condition “stiff-person syndrome,” which she revealed in December. The diagnosis forced Dion to postpone her European tour.
Excuse me, but I truly am delighted to be here,” Dion declared to a standing ovation. “Those who have been blessed enough to be here at the Grammy Awards must never take for granted the tremendous love and joy that music brings to our lives and people worldwide.”
Album of the Year was bestowed upon Dion in 1996 for her fourteenth studio album, “Falling Into You.” “The work is the award for me. Ultimately, Swift wants to be able to keep performing. “I just want to keep going like this. You have my deepest gratitude for allowing me to pursue my passion. It blew my mind.
