The Miami Heat have hired Udonis Johneal Haslem, a former NBA player who spent his entire 20-year career with the league, as their VP of basketball development. Haslem was born on June 9, 1980, in the United States.
Haslem was an integral part of four different Florida Gators NCAA tournament teams during his collegiate basketball career. After getting his start in the league with Chalon-sur-Saône in France, Haslem became the franchise’s longest-tenured player in 2003 after signing with the Miami Heat, the team he grew up rooting for. Haslem was a member of the Heat’s 2006, 2012, and 2013 NBA championship teams.

While training with Chalon-Sur-Saône of the French LNB Pro A, Haslem shed fifty pounds (or twenty-three kilogrammes) in under eight months.
The Miami Heat, Haslem’s hometown team, signed him on August 6, 2003. He participated in the Rookie Challenge on All-Star weekend, was named to the NBA’s second team of rookies, and led the Heat to the conference semifinals as a rookie.
In 2012, with Haslem’s assistance, the Heat made it back to the NBA Finals. Haslem earned his second title as the squad won in five games against the Oklahoma City Thunder. The Heat re-signed Haslem on August 15, 2021.
