2 Killed In Yosemite National Park In California: On Tuesday, two people were killed by a rockfall near Yosemite National Park’s main gate.
CBS News was told of the fatalities by officials in Mariposa County, but they were not given any information about the victims or the circumstances of their deaths.
According to the Mariposa County Sheriff’s Office, the rockslide happened on El Portal Road at around 9 a.m. local time on Tuesday, as reported by KFSN-TV on Thursday.
El Portal Road was blocked after a slide, and Yosemite National Park officials announced it on social media. There is no longer any obstruction to traffic on that road.
El Portal Road (continuation of Highway 140 into Yosemite Valley from El Portal) is closed due to a significant rockfall.
