The Witcher 3:

The Witcher 3: Release date, Cast, Plot, and Trailer

Season 2 of The Witcher was equally as interesting as the debut season and the franchise is thriving so far. The latest season has teased a lot of storylines which have the potential to get explored in The Witcher 3. Talking about the third season there are a lot of rumors about it. Below we’ve analyzed their credibility and other details about The Witcher Season 3.

Apart from the third season, The Witcher also has a new spin-off series coming out. It is titled “The Witcher: Blood Origin”! The second season followed Geralt of Rivia having an interesting journey throughout the continent. Geralt, Yin, and Ciri finally reunite and work together. But the ending was a cliffhanger which means that a third season is inevitable. But fans are now waiting for the official news which will confirm The Witcher 3.

The second season was full of chaos which will continue in the third season as well. So, we already have a vague idea of the plot. But what remains unclear is which main characters will be given the most attention. As there is still very little known about the third season all we can do for now is assume the most possible outcomes. Which is already summarized below!

The Witcher 3: Release Date

There is no release date for The Witcher 3 but we do have good news! Netflix has confirmed the third season of The Witcher along with a spin-off series. However, we can still estimate the premiere date of the threequel. The second season took almost 2 years to release but the delay was due to lockdowns and Covid-19. Hopefully if there are no interruptions in future the third season might take around a year to complete its production phase.

The filming for The Witcher 3 has not begun yet. Keeping that aside Netflix has just recently recruited writers to work on the screenplay. So, our safest bet will be to expect the third season to come out somewhere in 2023. And if we are lucky enough then we might even get it somewhere in late 2022.

Netflix announced the renewal news by a tweet which reads:

“Toss a coin to our growing Witcher universe! We can officially announce The Witcher Season 3, along with a second anime feature film, and a new Kids and Family series set in the world of The Witcher.”

The Witcher 3: Cast

The Witcher 3 will definitely feature Geralt, Ciri, and Yennefer because they have a lot of business to deal with in the upcoming season. There is no official line-up for the characters of The Witcher but we are expecting the following actors to star in the threequel:

  • Henry Cavill as Geralt of Rivia
  • Anya Chalotra as Yennefer
  • Freya Allan as Ciri
  • Joey Batey as Jaskier
  • Mimi Ndiweni as Fringilla
  • Media Simson as Francesa
  • Mahesh Jadu as Vilgefortz
  • MyAnna Buring as Tissaia
  • Bart Edwards as Emhyr

The second season introduced a lot of new characters. And as the war is raging it seems like more characters will be added in The Witcher 3. Who will they be? We are not sure about it because it will only become known once Netflix starts releasing the official footage from the third season.

The Witcher 3:

The Plot

The plot is of course not revealed yet but the story will continue from where it ended in the finale of Season 2. Luckily Lauren S. Hissrich has teased a lot of storylines which could make the basis of The Witcher 3. The major update we got from her was that the upcoming season will strongly follow “The Time of Contempt” the second book of The Witcher series. There might be a few changes here and there but reading this book will give you an idea of what to expect from The Witcher 3.

Geralt and Yen might be co-parenting in the upcoming season. Well, this is a wild guess but we can see the potential of this happening. Geralt did not fully forgive Yen but he did acknowledge the fact that no one else can raise Ciri as good as her. Yen also has a lot of character development awaiting her in The Witcher 3.

Schmidt Hissrich also claimed that the third season will introduce Scoia’tael and with this gang of elves getting involved in The Witcher 3 you can expect things to get pretty dark. In “The Time of Contempt” the Wild Hunt is mentioned. And it started to form in the second season as well so this element might make a crucial part of the third season.

The Witcher 3: Trailer

The filming for The Witcher 3 has not begun yet so there is no trailer for it either. Spoiler alert: You’ll have to remain patient for quite long!
