Penny revealed in an interview that he was not sure which side he was supporting. And according to him, it would be a dumb decision if Issa stayed with Lawrence. But as the story proceeded further, he could see the potential of their relationship.

But of course, he had doubts due to the events of the 4th season. Because Lawrence and Issa both tried, but due to strange circumstances, they just did not work. He did not even expect Lawrence to last more than a season due to his miserable state. But Jay Ellis outperformed and almost put life into the character.

Jay Ellis also has exciting views about unexpected reconciliation. In her words, “They both know that what they have is so rare, and they were willing to keep trying until it was the right time for the two of them to be together.”

Even at the table reads, the last episode was very shocking to read. But it was a proud moment for the character of Lawrence as he managed to live through all 5 seasons.
