Minions: The Rise of Gru tells the narrative of how the world’s greatest supervillain first met his iconic minions, formed cinema’s most evil squad, and faced up against the most unbeatable criminal force ever created in the summer of 2015. At the tender age of 12, Gru (Oscar® nominee Steve Carell) plots to conquer the world from his basement in 1970s suburbia.
Unfortunately, this isn’t going well at all. A new Minion with braces and a desperate drive to please join Gru and the Minions, including Kevin, Stuart, Bob, and Otto, when Gru and the Minions cross paths. What is the Plot of Minions: The Rise of Gru?
Minions: The Rise of Gru will continue the plot where the original film left off. As a 12-year-old, Gru dreams of being the greatest supervillain in the world, despite the fact that we’ve only seen him as a grown man.
He plans to join a notorious group of crooks known as The Vicious 6 by meeting them in person. With the help of his minions, Gru steals a valuable gemstone in order to prove himself to this gang. It’s not as simple as he expected to turn himself into a villain, though.
While on the run with the fearless minions, Gru realizes that his enemy is the greatest evil that he could have imagined. Wild Knuckles, the former leader of The Vicious 6 who Gru sought to replace, ends up helping him in his quest to save himself. It doesn’t matter what the consequences are, Gru is going to obtain what he wants with the help of his loyal yellow crew.

Produced by Chris Meledandri, founder and CEO of Illumination, and his longtime partners Janet Healy and Chris Renaud, Minions: The Rise of Gru is directed by the franchise’s original creators. Kyle Balda (Despicable Me 3 and Minions), Brad Ableson (The Simpsons), and Jonathan del Val (The Secret Life of Pets films) serve as co-directors on the film, which features Pierre Coffin as the Minions and a ’70s-inspired soundtrack by legendary Grammy-winning music producer Jack Antonoff as the soundtrack.

When Are Minions: The Rise of Gru’s Release Date?
The arrival of Minions 2 has been pushed back multiple times due to production issues. In 2017, it was reported that Minions: The Rise of Gru would serve as both a prequel to Despicable Me and a sequel to Minions. The fifth film in the series was supposed to come out in July 2020 as a summer movie. The initial release date was supposed to be July 2020.
However, because of the limitations imposed by the COVID-19 epidemic as well as the fact that the production company was closed during that period, the date of release was pushed back to July 2, 2021. And now, at long last, the sequel to the prequel is planned to be released on theatre screens all around the United States on July 1, 2022.
Minions: The Rise of Gru Trailer
After releasing a teaser, Illumination released the official trailer on February 5, 2020. The action-packed trailer shows young Gru with enormous goals. He wants to be a super villain, so he visits The Vicious 6 and steals a rare stone from them to prove himself.
Gru learns that Otto, the newest Minion, lost the stone. Gur is furious and determined to regain his villain status, but he pokes the incorrect bear. Minions: The Rise of Gru’s trailer promises iconic humor, throwback visuals, and over-the-top action sequences. After two years, a new trailer was released on March 30, 2022. The teaser portrays Stuart, Kevin, and Bob going on a journey to save Gru from the Vicious 6.
